Modes
Modes
其實已有千年歷史, 但至今仍非常普遍使用, Modes 起源自希臘, 天主教會使用, 所以至今也保留他們古希臘的名字 ~
1.
Ionian ~ Bright, happy, "typical."
Major Mode : 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7.

Dorian ~ Very common for jamming in minor keys.
Minor Mode : 1. 2. 3b. 4. 5. 6. 7b.
3.
Phrygian ~ Has a "spanish" kind of sound to it, largely
created by the b2 degree.
Minor
Mode : 1. 2b. 3b. 4. 5. 6b. 7b.

Lydian ~ Has an interesting, bright sound, not as "typical"-sounding
as the ionian mode.
Major
Mode : 1. 2. 3. 4#. 5. 6. 7.

Mixolydian ~
Very common for jamming Blues & Dom7 Chords
Major
Mode : 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7b.

Aeolian ~ Also known as the "natural minor" scale. Darker
than dorian
Minor
Mode : 1. 2. 3b. 4. 5. 6b. 7b.

Locrian ~ Very dark sound, not usually heard outside of jazz.
Major
Mode : 1. 2b. 3b. 4. 5b. 6b. 7b.
Hints:
大家也可以用PARALLEL Thinking去幫助彈modes的記法.
很簡單.例如彈A Dorian. 可以知道. 其實所用既音係同G Major Scale係一樣的.
簡單來說. Dorian 係排二既mode. 如果彈A Dorian. 即係A 音排第二. 換言之即係G 係第一. 咁我地直接彈G
Major Scale 就可以了. 但當然要用返A音黎做中心點.
Example:
A Dorian : 1. 2. 3b. 4. 5. 6. 7b. =
A. B. C. D. E. F#. G.
G Major (Parallel Major) : 1. 2. 3.
4. 5. 6. 7. = G. A. B. C. D. E. F#.
但始終用這套方法只可以幫助大家方便記憶.
始終要彈得出Mode既味道. 就千萬唔好真係當佢係Parallel Scale 彈. 因為個腦諗緊既野完全係兩回事. 彈出來既野當然都會係兩回事.
